The Aveyron Assize Court on Monday sentenced a 42-year-old man to 20 years in prison for the knife murder of a 44-year-old father in the streets of Millau, August 10, 2019. Continuing to denying any intention of homicide and any premeditation, the suspect announced, through his lawyers, to have appealed, reported

on Wednesday.

A gesture of defense

At the trial, he had assured that these two stab wounds were gestures of "defense" against the victim, who would have taken out a scalpel.

However, no such instrument was found on the victim by the emergency services.

At the helm, his former companion, cited as a victim, had meanwhile mentioned in her testimony a murder out of jealousy, which would attest to premeditation, explain our colleagues.

Convinced, the Advocate General, had requested twenty-five years in prison against the man, who has 19 mentions in his record.

With this second judgment before the Montpellier Court of Appeal, he now risks life imprisonment.
