Most Sami politicians were elected from Kiruna municipality.

After the election, there are nine Sami municipal politicians and one regional politician.

Jokkmokk and Storuman come in a shared second place counted in the number of elected Sami politicians.

In both municipalities, five Sami politicians were elected to regular seats in the municipal council.

The group leader and the Green Party's first name in Jokkmokk, Henrik Blind in Jokkmokk, gives a few words and a little modest answer if he becomes Jokkmokk's new municipal councillor.

He prefers to talk about the fact that his party, the Green Party, fared well in the municipal elections, they received 14.9 percent of the vote.

Cross queen and cross king in the municipal council

In the Kiruna municipal council, we find both the election's cross queen and cross king.

The Sami list's first name, Åsa Larsson-Blind, received 156 personal votes and KD's Krister Pouno received 815 personal votes.

In Storuman in Västerbotten, the leftist Daniel Johansson did not unexpectedly receive many personal votes.

There were 180 who voted for him in the municipal election - and he was elected to both the municipal council and the regional council.

Another who attracted many voters was Isak Utsi (S), municipal councilor in Arjeplog, he received 152 personal votes.

"I am honoured"

There was no parliamentary seat for the lawyer and reindeer owner Inger-Ann Omma (S), but she got into the Lycksele municipal council with 35 personal votes.

- I am honored that as many as 35 people crossed me, but believe more that my place in the municipal council depends on my place on the list and that the party is still the largest party in the municipality, replies Inger-Ann Omma in an email reply to SVT Sápmi.

She continues:

- I am looking forward to getting involved in the decisions concerning our everyday issues in the municipality.

It is a position of trust that I will do my utmost to manage well.
