  The conference was hosted by the China Society for Human Rights Studies, and co-organized by the Institute of Human Rights of China University of Political Science and Law and the Institute of Human Rights of Wuhan University.

  Zhang Wanhong, Dean of the Institute of Human Rights of Wuhan University, said in his opening speech that the meeting was held after the United Nations Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities recently concluded its consideration of the second and third combined periodic reports on China's implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The "Asia-Pacific Decade of Persons with Disabilities" (2013-2022) is about to come to an end. On the one hand, I hope to discuss in depth the progress and challenges that China has made in safeguarding the rights of persons with disabilities; Exchange of ideas and practices on the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities.

  During the seminar, Ding Peng, a researcher at the Institute of Human Rights of Wuhan University, introduced China's national human rights action plan.

He said that the four national human rights action plans that China has continuously formulated and implemented all stipulate equal protection and special guarantees for specific groups.

Through a series of positive measures, the all-round development of all members of society, including women, children, the elderly, and the disabled, has been promoted.

  Liu Xiaonan, a professor at the Institute of Human Rights at China University of Political Science and Law, pointed out that China has promulgated many laws, which are very advantageous in guaranteeing the employment rights of disabled women.

In the future, according to the requirements of relevant international conventions, more attention should be paid to the issue of intersectional discrimination faced by women with disabilities.

  Chen Bo, an assistant professor at the Law School of Macau University of Science and Technology, believes that there is still important value in defining employment discrimination based on documents such as the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which can more effectively deal with direct and indirect discrimination at the entry stage in legislation.

  Kobayashi Masaru, a senior researcher at the Japan External Trade Organization's Asian Economic Research Institute, said that disabled people should not only be treated as objects of welfare and protection, but should also be the subject of rights, so that disabled people can enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms fairly and equitably.

  Regarding how to achieve equal and effective social participation for persons with disabilities, Rooney Harvardson, a professor at Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway, emphasized that whether at the national or regional level, it is necessary to ensure that persons with disabilities have the right to speak and participate in the formulation of their own policies.
