The Assistant Undersecretary for the Public Health Sector at the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, Dr. Hussein Abdul Rahman Al Rand, stated that the ministry succeeded in restoring hearing to 55 deaf children, free of charge, from low-income families, at a cost of eight million and 250 thousand dirhams, as part of its "Help Me Hear" initiative. .

Al Rand explained to "Emirates Today" that the initiative receives cases that meet the conditions, and a specialized committee studies them, and decides on them as soon as possible, then subject the beneficiaries to surgery at Al Qasimi Hospital in Sharjah.

The initiative targets free cochlear implants for children from six months to four years old, with the support of implant manufacturers, charities and donors.

He pointed out that the ministry launched "Help Me Hear" to treat hearing-impaired children of low income, an embodiment of the UAE's humanitarian vision, and a reflection of its global approach to giving and benevolence, to the happiness of hearing-impaired children of all nationalities, and it undertook the costs of operations and hearing implants in order to reintegrate them into society, explaining The number of beneficiaries of cochlear implants and hearing restoration reached 55 children of all nationalities residing in the country.

Al-Rand called on the hearing-impaired who meet the conditions to register in the initiative and benefit from its services.

He stated that the "Help Me to Hear" initiative is one of the qualitative humanitarian initiatives launched by the Ministry in cooperation with its strategic partners, to help residents of the country with low incomes, whose families cannot afford the expenses of treating hearing loss, as the cost of the surgery is 150 thousand dirhams, pointing out to The initiative continues, and is ready to help more children with hearing loss within the framework of the UAE's vision and its approach based on noble human values ​​and to provide a helping hand to those in need of all nationalities, to consolidate the role of the state as a regional and global capital for humanitarian work and serve humanity, and to promote the values ​​and culture of goodness in our society.

Al Rand expressed his happiness with the success of cochlear implants, which change the course of life of the subjects, enabling them to hear, communicate and develop like their peers.

He stated that all operations were performed at Al Qassimi Hospital in Sharjah, in cooperation with a group of surgeons and specialized doctors in the country and the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, in cooperation with an international company that produces hearing implants, the Red Crescent, and charities in the country.
