The pension reform will take place, but when and how?

The government is still wondering how to pass the reform, while opposition voices are heard from all sides.

A new scenario is being studied: to pass the reform in a bill for the amending financing of Social Security.

A meeting on pension reform is being held Wednesday evening around the president at the Elysée, in the presence of Elisabeth Borne and several heavyweights of the macronie.

Objective: to restore calm in a majority, very divided on the method.

If he is still thinking about the form, Emmanuel Macron, is more than ever determined to pass this reform that he promised during the campaign.

A new scenario under consideration

According to information from Europe 1, the Central Territorial Intelligence Service anticipates a small number of demonstrators on Thursday against this pension reform.

Only 68,000 to 75,000 people are expected to parade throughout the country, including 4,000 to 8,000 in Paris.

"These projections confirm us in the idea that we must go quickly," says a minister.

Despite the criticisms it has aroused in the majority, the track of the amendment to the Social Security budget remains seriously considered by the president.

But now a new scenario is being studied: to pass the reform in a bill for the amending financing of Social Security.

The text would then be presented early next year.

The president will make a decision at the end of the week

If this formula could give the impression that Emmanuel Macron is backing down by not going as fast as he hoped, it also has several advantages for the Head of State.

Use 49-3 without difficulty, while leaving time for consultation, which would calm the discontent within the majority, explains an adviser.

The president should therefore make his final decision at the end of the week.

Until then, a dinner is planned on the subject for Wednesday evening at the Élysée with the ministers concerned and the heavyweights of the majority.

Emmanuel Macron should also talk about it one-on-one with François Bayrou who has never stopped repeating his hostility to any forced passage.

He will travel Friday morning to the boss of the MoDem, in Pau.
