MPs PS, EELV and LFI boycott a charity football match because of the presence of the RN

Originally, the traditional football match, between a selection of former internationals (such as Robert Pires, Sidney Govou or Christian Karembeu…) and the French national assembly football team, was to be held this Wednesday.

During this meeting, for the benefit of an association which fights against the cyberbullying of children, all the parliamentary groups were to be represented.

Deputies from the majority, the Republicans and the Communist group had also agreed to participate in the operation.

But in the end, the political context prevailed over sport, the left-wing deputies not wishing to participate "in the normalization of the RN".

“We had not anticipated the presence of so many far-right MPs,” added a rebellious MP.

In a press release, the rebellious explain themselves "to be football fans but more inclined to tackle the far right than to give him passes. We decide not to help him score points with this first match."

Rugby also boycotted

In a press release, the socialist deputies also warn: "We will not participate in the next matches of the XV parliamentary rugby union either if the RN is present".

Only the Communist Party will put on its cleats.

"The thousands of fans in France do not ask who their opponent voted for", justifies the deputy Sébastien Jumel.

At the other end of the political spectrum, the deputies of the National Rally regret this decision.
