Residents near the fire are asked to go inside and close windows, doors and ventilation.
The alarm about the fire on Storgatan came at one o'clock at night.
When the emergency services arrived there, the fire was already fully developed.
The building that is on fire is a three-storey building with, among other things, a hairdresser on the ground floor, and apartments on the other floors.
- All the residents had got out when we got there, says Johan Nilsson, regional operations leader at the rescue service.
No one is said to have had to go to hospital for treatment.
Works to prevent spread
During the night, at most personnel from five rescue stations have been on site.
During the morning, three remain and work to prevent the fire from spreading.
Nearby is a garage belonging to the burning property as well as an older clock tower.
- As it looks now, we are managing to prevent spread, says Johan Nilsson early on Wednesday morning.
It is still unclear what caused the fire.
- But we currently assume that it started at the bottom level, says Johan Nilsson.
