Electric current during test fishing drastically lowers mortality - used to map the predatory fish on the Sörmland coast

The method of using electricity is significantly gentler than fishing with nets, says fisheries biologist Stefan Thorfve.

- If you fish with nets, the mortality rate for the fish is close to 100 percent, while with electricity only around one percent, if you generalize, he says.

Most worth protecting

The purpose of the inventory is to locate regeneration habitats for predatory fish in the coastal belt.

- You see very little pike in the outer archipelago, usually single larger specimens.
