“Rather, it is the Russian side that has grounds for a strong protest, which was announced yesterday, and there is also every reason to demand an apology for such behavior of a Japanese diplomat and demand that such actions of Japanese diplomats in Russia be prevented in the future,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

Galuzin explained that Tatsunori acted contrary to his status as a consul, violated our legislation and the Vienna Convention. 

Earlier, the FSB reported that it had detained the Japanese consul in Vladivostok, Motoki Tatsunori, while he was carrying out a spy operation.

The Japanese diplomat was declared persona non grata.

The Russian Foreign Ministry presented the Japanese side with a note of protest in connection with the espionage activities of the Japanese consul in Vladivostok.

After reports of detention in Vladivostok, Tatsunori Galuzin was summoned to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
