A 16-kilometer car procession on the border crossing from Russia to Georgia was confirmed by satellite images while Russia refuted reports of Russian citizens rushing to escape to avoid military mobilization orders as fake news.
U.S. commercial satellite company Maxa Technology released this satellite image taken on the 25th, the Washington Post (WP) and other American media reported on the 27th.
The image shows a long line of cars and trucks trying to leave Russia towards a Russian checkpoint.
"It was difficult to convey the full scale of the car procession," Maxar Technologies said.
Another photo from the company also shows a long line of vehicles heading towards Mongolia.
Georgia and Mongolia are countries where Russian citizens can enter without a visa, NBC reported.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin issued a partial mobilization order for the reserve forces on the 21st, and since then, Russian citizens have continued to flee abroad to avoid conscription.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on the 22nd that "there is a lot of exaggeration and there is a lot of false information."
