The UAE and Oman... a common history and solid relations

The Emirati-Omani relations have a special and exceptional nature imposed by the common history, popular and societal rapprochement, and the sincere desire of the leaderships of the two countries to take cooperation between them to broader and more comprehensive horizons, which has ensured a continuous development of the inter-relations between the Emirates and the Sultanate for the good and interest of the two brotherly peoples.

The two countries have close relations at various levels, embodied in the permanent dialogue between the two sides, the meetings at the highest levels between the two countries and the frequent ministerial and governmental meetings, which reflects the amount of attention they attach to developing bilateral relations between them.

Deepening relations with the Sultanate of Oman is a major priority for the country's leadership, as expressed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, when he said: "The UAE and Oman are rooted brothers and extended relations that are only strengthened by days, strength and love."

In turn, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, embodied the privacy and historical depth of the Emirati-Omani relations, as His Highness said: "Oman is from us and we are among them, our brothers, our brothers and our support."

The relations between the two brotherly countries extend their roots to the depth of history, and during the past decades they have gone through many prominent stations that directly contributed to its consolidation and progression. God” had held a historic meeting in 1968.

Through the movement of citizens between the two countries using the personal “identity” card instead of passports, and the formation of a higher economic committee that conducted many studies to establish a group of joint projects.

The two countries are working to enhance trade and investment activities between them and develop partnership in many vital economic sectors, including the energy sector, renewable energy, water solutions, financial services, logistical support, construction, real estate and entrepreneurship.

The two countries share a common cultural heritage of arts and literature that formed a homogeneous cultural identity for their peoples and for all the peoples of the Arab Gulf region, while the common customs and traditions between the two peoples are reflected in many vocabulary in poetry, prose, story, oral tradition, proverbs and folk narrations.

The cultural and social ties between the Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman are more and more deeply intertwined, reaching the level of family and familial relations and the sharing of customs, fashion and arts, as a result of the common history and geographical contact.
