Thomas Johansson says that it is, however, too early to say whether the fires have any connection with each other.

- We are looking at a longer period of time and also believe that there is a dark number of started fires.

If we are dealing with one or more pyromaniacs, it is serious, says Thomas Johansson.

The police urge landowners and property owners to contact the police if something feels unusual or not right.

Now the police are trying to find patterns in the fires that have been and are dependent on observations from the public.

The rescue manager about the situation

The large number of fires creates consequences in several directions.

- It reduces our preparedness and there are increased costs for our organization.

Then, started fires create a lot of concern in general and there is every reason to look over your own property, so you don't offer opportunities for people to start a fire there, says Claes Nicklasson, deputy rescue manager at the Östra Blekinge Rescue Service.
