The head of the IAEA said that he had discussed with the head of Rosatom the topic of the security zone around the ZNPP

“Today, on the margins of the General Conference, a timely exchange of views took place with the head of the Russian Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, on the creation of a nuclear safety and protection zone at the Ukrainian Zaporozhye NPP,” he wrote on Twitter.

Grossi added that the move is necessary to reduce the risk of a nuclear accident.

Earlier, the Russian Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, said that the proposal of the IAEA Director General regarding ensuring the safety of the Zaporizhzhya NPP needs to be specified.
