The main union of medical interns announced on Monday "a great mobilization" in October "going as far as a strike", to protest against the one-year extension of their studies, which the government wishes to direct " in priority" to the medical deserts.

The fourth year of boarding school does not go to carabineers.

The Social Security budget for 2023 indeed plans to add a "year of consolidation" to the course of future general practitioners, which would be carried out outside the hospital and "as a priority in under-resourced areas".

A "coercive" measure

The stated objective is "to enrich their training" and "to support their rapid installation", but also to keep a campaign promise from Emmanuel Macron.

The Head of State thus wished to send "a massive reinforcement in the medical deserts".

An "injustice", denounces in a press release the National Intersyndicale des interns (Isni), which "formally opposes" this "coercive" measure, from which it expects "no solution to the problems of access to care".
