“Hero of Russia, Colonel General, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security Viktor Bondarev submitted a report to the Russian Minister of Defense with a request to return to serve in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation to participate in a special military operation,” RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.
Vorobyov added that he was proud of Bondarev's act.
He also called the senator a "true patriot" of his country.
Earlier, four State Duma deputies expressed a desire to go to the zone of a special military operation.
