Putin expresses his deep sadness after the terrorist attack on a Russian school


Russian President Vladimir Putin expressed his deep sorrow over the brutal terrorist attack at a school in the Russian city of Izhevsk on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

"The president expressed his deepest condolences to all those who lost loved ones and their children in this tragic accident, wishing a speedy recovery to those wounded in the brutal terrorist attack," Peskov said in comments reported by the Russian TASS news agency.

"Putin is deeply saddened by the death of people and children in the terrorist attack on the school, apparently perpetrated by a member of a neo-Nazi group," he added.

According to the latest reports, the death toll in the school shooting in Izhevsk has risen to 13, including seven children, and 21 people, including 14 children, were injured.

The TASS news agency reported that an unidentified assailant opened fire on Monday morning at 88 School in Izhevsk, and committed suicide after the attack.

Investigators said the man was wearing a black T-shirt with Nazi symbols and a helmet.

No papers were found with him, and a criminal investigation was opened into the accident.
