Police were hit on Södermalm - driver fled the scene

It was in connection with a vehicle check on Södermalm that a police officer was hit by a car.

The driver is said to have fled the scene after the collision.

- The car had been stopped and when the police were on their way to check, the driver hit the police, says police spokesperson Towe Hägg.

The police have been taken to hospital, but the extent of the injuries is unclear.

A preliminary investigation into gross negligence in traffic and attempted murder has been launched.
