A senior Ukrainian official said two drones launched by Russia hit military targets in the port city of Odessa causing fire and explosions of munitions.

“As a result of this fire and these explosions, we organized an evacuation of the civilian population,” the Ukrainian command explained on Telegram.

The United States has asked Russia through private channels to end its rhetoric about the nuclear threat in the war in Ukraine.

"We have been very clear with the Russians, publicly and privately, to stop talking about nuclear weapons," US Foreign Minister Antony Blinken said in an interview with CBS News, broadcast sunday.

"It is very important that Moscow hears us and knows that the consequences would be horrible. And we have been very clear about this", underlined the secretary of state.

"Any use of nuclear weapons would have catastrophic effects for the country using them, of course, but also for many others."

The United States intends to make it clear to Russia "what the consequences would be if it took the dark path of using nuclear weapons, and they would be catastrophic," said Jake Sullivan, national security adviser to the White House, on NBC.

"We have the ability to speak directly at a high level [to the Russians], to tell them clearly what our message is and to hear theirs," he said.

“It has happened frequently in recent months, it has even happened in recent days,” said Jake Sullivan, who did not want to give details on the exact nature of the communication channels used, in order to “them protect."

The Republic of Dagestan is one of the 22 Republics of Russia.

It is located on the shores of the Caspian Sea, in Ciscaucasia, and its population is predominantly Muslim.

According to rights group OVD-Info, at least 100 people have been arrested in the capital Makhachkala.

Dozens of videos posted on social media showed clashes between law enforcement and demonstrators shouting: "No to war!"
