King Charles' coronation organizer seeks to avoid driving ban

Edward Fitzalan Howard, aka the Duke of Norfolk, who orchestrated Queen Elizabeth II's funeral, is confronted by a mandatory driving ban he received because he needs his car to organize the coronation of King Charles III.

And before a court in London, Howard admitted to using his mobile phone and not stopping at a red traffic light while driving his car on the seventh of last April.

Fitzalan Howard, the highest-ranking Duke of England and also Earl Marshall, had two offenses recorded in 2019 and faces a mandatory driving ban following the two recent charges.

However, the Duke's attorney, 65, Natasha Dardashti, said she would ask the judge not to enforce the ban because of the future duke's role in organizing the coronation of King Charles III expected early next year.

The lawyer requested that the details of the arguments be kept confidential for reasons of possible issues related to British national security.

"Because the situation is strange, and because of the very special and important role that the Duke has in the coronation ceremony, I would like to ask the court to hold closed sessions," the lawyer said.
