TEHRAN -

In light of the ongoing popular protests, and the mutual threats between Tel Aviv and Tehran, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards unveiled the "Radvan" ballistic missile, of the "land-to-ground" category, which operates on liquid fuel and has an operational range of 1,400 km.

During the military parade held by the Iranian armed forces last Thursday near the shrine of the Supreme Leader of the Iranian Revolution, Ayatollah Khomeini, south of Tehran, the Commander-in-Chief of the Revolutionary Guards Major General Hossein Salami announced that the Radwan missile is a medium-range, and enters the atmosphere at a speed of 8 times the speed of sound.

As in previous years, Tehran displayed some of its military capabilities, perhaps the most prominent among them was the "Power 373" defense system, as it is the first local system capable of identifying 300 targets and engaging with 60 of them simultaneously.

Features and features

Regarding the characteristics of the “Radwan” ballistic missile, Mahdi Bakhtiari, a researcher in military affairs, explained that the missile is single-stage, and it is classified as a point-shaped missile, and perhaps what distinguishes it from many other ballistic missiles is its hypersonic speed, which represents a breakthrough. Formidable military.

Speaking to Al-Jazeera Net, Bakhtiari explained that the "Radwan" missile, through its high speed, can maneuver to escape radars, especially in the landing stage, as it turns into a fiery mass due to its contact with the atmosphere.

However, the Iranian researcher said that the "Radvan" missile is not the first of its kind among Iranian missiles whose maximum speed exceeds the speed of sound. The landing stage, to bypass the air defenses and overcome them.

Bakhtiari considered the "Radwan" missile as one of the new generations of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, especially that it is light in weight compared to similar classes, and its accuracy in hitting targets at a range and radius of 1400 km is another capability of this missile, which also features a detachable warhead. It can be launched from both fixed and mobile platforms.

naming connotation

For his part, political researcher Muhammad Mahdi Yazdi focuses on the significance of the new Iranian missile's name, saying that it "reminds the military leader of the Lebanese Hezbollah, Imad Mughniyeh (Hajj Radwan), who was assassinated by the Zionist entity in 2008 in the Syrian capital, Damascus."

Yazdi added that "the naming of the Radwan missile has a symbolic meaning directed against the Israeli entity," explaining that his country has been naming its missiles and drones in proportion to the tasks assigned to it, stressing that "the missile's range clearly indicates the depth of the Israeli entity as it is the archenemy of the Islamic Republic in the region."

He concluded that "all Iranian missiles, with a range of more than 1,000 kilometers, are directed primarily at the Israeli entity and the American bases in the region," adding that the timing of the Radwan missile's discovery is remarkable, as it came after Israeli threats to launch military strikes on Iran.

Although during the last event - on September 22nd, Iran reviewed various types of weapons, including the "Mersad", "15 Khordad" and "Talash" missile systems and the S-300 missiles, in addition to radars, Iran marches, cannons and other local weapons;

The Chief of the General Staff, Major General Muhammad Bagheri, stressed that "a large part of our military achievements have not been announced," warning "the Zionist entity and its supporters against taking any action that Tehran finds a threat to it."
