The Grenoble Court of Appeal (Isère) confirmed, on Friday September 23, 2022, the sentence pronounced last November by the Drôme Assize Court against Francisco Gonzalez-Ortiz.

The man was again found guilty of the double murder which occurred in Saint-Marcel-lès-Sauzet, four years before, reports

France Bleu Drôme Ardèche

.

The facts occurred on June 18, 2018. Jeanne Lelong and Paul Pastor, two retirees aged 84 and 67 respectively, were brutally killed before their bodies were found the next morning.

Life sentence

Despite the numerous evidence against him, the accused has always denied the facts.

A cart he used to transport had been seen not far from the house where the murders occurred and his DNA had also been found there, in various locations.

After three days of appeal, the man was sentenced to life imprisonment again.
