Azat has difficulty walking and has had three teeth knocked out.
But the time in captivity has perhaps above all led to some invisible scars.
- Nothing will be the same as before, everything that has happened will have an impact on me, says Azat.
When the Russians invaded the city of Berdyansk, Azat stayed behind to help evacuate people.
Suddenly he was arrested and while in captivity his wife Nataliya prayed for her husband.
- I knew he would come back, no one believed but I did, she says.
