Lorenzo Sonego beat Alexander Bublik and won the "Moselle Open", an ATP 250 tournament played on the fast indoor track in Metz, France.

The 27-year-old from Turin, number 65 in the international ranking, defeated his Kazakh rival in today's final, seventh force on the board and number 44 in the world, with a score of 7-6 (3) 6-2, after about an hour and a half of play .

For Sonego it is the third success in the major international circuit.

It was the fifth career final for the Piedmontese: previously he had won those of Antalya (in 2019) and Cagliari (in 2021), while he had lost those of Vienna (in 2020) and Eastbourne (in 2021).

For Bublik, on the other hand, only one success in seven finals played.

It is the fifth ATP title won by an Italian this year, after the victories of Matteo Berrettini in Stuttgart and at Queen's, of Lorenzo Musetti in Hamburg and of Jannik Sinner in Umago.

From tomorrow Sonego will return to the top 50 in the world, probably at step 44 of the ATP ranking.

Obviously satisfied Sonego: "I improved my tennis every day. The atmosphere here in Metz was beautiful. Difficult to play against Bublik: he has a great talent and a great serve. It was a difficult year for me, now I want to enjoy myself. at the most this moment ".
