Facing the press,

Aminata Touré, nicknamed "Mimi Touré"

, announced that she wanted to remain a member of the National Assembly "

to defend the interests of the Senegalese people

", but while taking her liberties with the presidential parliamentary group Benno Bok Yaakaar, and therefore by joining the non-attached MEPs.

With one seat less, the ruling coalition would therefore lose the absolute majority in the hemicycle.

It would be a break with President Macky Sall, after being

dismissed from the post of President of the National Assembly

.

The reason, according to her: the question of the possible third term of the Head of State in 2024, which is "

legally and morally impossible

", recalls the former Prime Minister.

“

In exactly 15 months, President Macky Sall will leave power, in peace and serenity, because it will not be acceptable for lives to be lost in an impossible third term attempt

 ,” she continued.

When asked about her own candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, Aminata Touré said, smiling, that she was thinking about it seriously.

“

I will first meet Senegalese men and women, to get their opinion and support

 ,” she said.
