The French, who had skipped the European Championships in Munich in mid-August, immediately took the lead in the race, winning in 6 min 9 sec and 34/100th.

The French duo, starting from lane number 4, gave their opponents no chance by gradually increasing their lead.

The Spaniards Aleix Garcia Pujolar and Rodrigo Conde Romero, who moved up to third position at each intermediate, managed to clinch second place at the end of the race at the expense of the Australians David Bartholot and Caleb Antill.

The tricolor pair had climbed to the final after easily winning their series in the semi-finals on Friday in 6 min 12 sec 43/100th, ahead of the Greeks Ioannis Kalandaridis and Athanasios Palaiopanos, who finished in sixth and last place on Sunday.

Already world champions in double sculls in 2018 in Plovdiv (Bulgaria), Boucheron and Androdias were also crowned European champions the same year in Glasgow then in 2021 in Varese (Italy).
