Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara is not concerned about the US refusal to sell F-35 fighter jets to Turkey and Washington's reaction to the purchase of defense systems.

In October 2021, Erdogan noted that the United States offered Ankara to purchase F-16 fighters after it was excluded from the F-35 fighter program.
