But it didn't end there.

During the past week, several residents in the area have seen one or more crayfish wandering around, both on the footpath and on the grass.

The nearest lake is Tullingesjön and it is over one and a half kilometers away.

How the crayfish ended up in central Tullinge is a mystery, but it is not impossible that they got there themselves.

"Fully possible for crayfish to walk such a long distance"

- It is entirely possible for crayfish to walk such a long distance, although it probably takes three to four days, provided it is humid, says Patrik Bohman, who is an environmental analyst at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, SLU.

But it is more likely that they were lying in a ditch nearby, because they can burrow into the mud and live there for a long time.

- They don't have to come from a lake, but it can be a watercourse or a moist ditch edge, says Patrik Bohman.

Could they have escaped from someone who lives nearby?

- That can absolutely be the case, crayfish have a tendency to escape from, for example, aquariums.

Visited the preschool

There is also a preschool in the area, which also had visitors.

The staff say they have seen several crayfish, both in the preschool yard and just outside.

It is right outside the preschool yard that SVT makes a find.
