In a press release, eight deputies from the Renaissance group announced that they had requested the opening of a commission of inquiry at the National Assembly.

Eight Renaissance deputies asked for the opening of a commission of inquiry in the Assembly on possible "Russian financing" of French parties, after the revelation of declassified American information reporting several hundred million euros paid by Russia in several countries.
In a press release published on Saturday, these deputies of the presidential party refer to a letter sent the day before to the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet, in which they justify the instruction of such an investigation "in view of the seriousness facts" and so that the information established can "be brought to the attention of French citizens and our justice system".

It is, they detail, "to know if French political parties - and which ones - have benefited from Russian funding".
They cite "positions taken in favor of Russia by several leading French political leaders", as well as "loans contracted to finance electoral campaigns and the sums of which are still due many years later" or even "the appointment within Russian companies of former French parliamentarians and ministers".
On Friday, the National Rally, which refutes the majority's accusations of depending on Russian power, also announced that it would table a resolution on Monday to create a commission of inquiry in the Assembly.
Its role, according to the RN, would be to "specify the nature of the links between certain elected representatives of the presidential majority and Qatar", "determine" possible links between the majority and China and investigate "what is akin to a real legislative co-production between the presidential party and the American giants Amazon, Microsoft, Google or even Uber".
According to a declassified American intelligence document made public on September 13, several hundred million euros have been paid since 2014 by Russia to political parties in several countries with the aim of increasing its influence and influencing the polls.
