Double payment of hotels, canceled trips with short notice and notification that all trips for the rest of the year will be cancelled.

The uproar of the last few days around the charter company Detur has foretold that the Swedish Consumer Agency will once again start a supervisory case against the company.

One of two investigators is Maja Lindstrand, a lawyer at the Swedish Consumer Agency.

- Yesterday we were made aware that consumers needed to pay for hotels they had already paid for.

Contacts started coming in to our guidance service Hello consumer.

We were also drawn to the information from Örnsköldsvik airport yesterday, says Maja Lindstrand.

Several notifications - in a short time

A steady stream of notifications about Detur's canceled trips and delayed payments has come in during the year, but decreased drastically in early September.

Today alone, the Swedish Consumer Agency has once again registered 9 reports against Detur.

- Most of the reports apply to situations other than the one with the hotels.

We have asked Detur how they handle their travelers who are at destinations and we have sent a supplement regarding the fact that trips are expected to be canceled for the rest of the year.

According to an email that SVT has seen, the Swedish Consumer Agency has asked Detur what routines they have for handling travelers at the destination, especially regarding compensation arrangements.

What is the next step?

- We have sent a new email to Detur and asked for an immediate response.

We want to know how they handle the travelers who are already on their journeys, including about the remaining time at the hotel and the journey home, says Maja Lindastrand, to SVT Västernorrland.

In a statement to the Swedish Consumer Agency, a representative of Detur claims, among other things, "All hotels are paid."

Detur has had problems with a hotel and Detur is currently solving problems caused by the hotel.

However, it should be noted that this hotel has also received payment, which can be proven”.

Furthermore, they write that they have "urged" the Turkish tourism ministry to deal with the hotel and that the ministry's staff have been to the hotel and resolved the conflict.
