President Yoon Seok-yeol held a meeting with artificial intelligence (AI) experts at the University of Toronto as his first visit to Canada on the 22nd (local time).



At his meeting, President Yoon said, "If Korea and Canada cooperate with each other, we expect to make a new leap forward in the field of artificial intelligence."



“The new government will actively support cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence between the two countries in the future,” he said.



President Yoon evaluated Toronto as "the mecca of artificial intelligence, where artificial intelligence researchers and big tech companies from all over the world gather."



He then explained, "I found this place after hearing Canada's success factors and opinions on ways to advance Korea's technological prowess."



President Yoon predicted that digital technology would be a meaningful means for expanding freedom.



The president's office explains that this event is also the first step to realize the 'solidarity for digital free citizens' initiative proposed by President Yoon at New York University the day before.



President Yoon said, "The purpose of using digital is to spread universal values ​​such as freedom and human rights to mankind and to create a new order for peace and prosperity."



Introducing the 'Digital Platform Government', which is being promoted as a national task, "True digital democracy, innovative improvement of administrative services,



President Yoon started a private conversation, saying, "I would like to hear valuable opinions on how to use digital and artificial intelligence to expand the freedom of global citizens and guarantee human rights."



The meeting was attended by Professor Jeffrey Hinton, who developed the deep learning algorithm, Garth Gibson, CEO of Vector Research Institute, and University of Toronto President Merrick Gertler.
