The Chinese judiciary is innovative, you have to give it that.

We are used to the fact that she has always taken action against people who allegedly want to overthrow the system.

Now, however, officials who have behaved in accordance with the system have been sentenced to the highest penalties.

They formed a political clique for their mutual benefit.

The fact that a considerable amount of bribes was paid in the process does not correspond to the ideal of the system, but is quite common.

In this respect - not unusual either - again no innocent people were hit.

But by no means all of the guilty end up in court.

New rules at the party conference

So why was this group in particular "caught"?

Their leader has apparently developed political ambitions.

And that is now completely against the system, at least in a state that a leader aligns in all facets with himself.

State and party leader Xi Jinping senses enemies everywhere, including within the ranks of his Communist Party.

And since he wants to change the rules that were established in the People's Republic in the post-Mao era at the party congress in a few weeks' time, he believes he has to set an example.

After ten years in office, he wants to be “elected” again.

It goes without saying that he enlists the help of one of his "cable teams".
