“We will not give up a single grain of sand from our land to Iran. The land belongs to the people and not the property of a family.” .. Clear, strong, decisive and resolute words, echoed by the founder of the state, the late, God Almighty, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in every forum and occasion, he made it a platform A work and a well-established belief in the minds of all Emiratis, so that the issue of the three islands: (the Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb, and Abu Musa) occupied by Iran, remains at the top of the state’s local, Arab and international priorities.

Zayd:

The UAE affirms its determination to take all peaceful measures to restore its sovereignty over its three islands.

"We look forward to the response of the Islamic Republic of Iran to these efforts to end its occupation of the three islands through direct negotiations."

Sheikh Zayed, may his soul rest in peace, was keen that the issue of the occupied islands would take precedence over the issues included in his inaugural speeches of the regular and extraordinary sessions of the Federal National Council, and that he would begin his words with them, as it is a national issue that does not accept compromise or concession, and it is also an issue that must be granted With a national consensus, and entrenched in the conscience of the nation's sons.

The speeches of the late Sheikh Zayed, in the openings of the roles of the Federal National Council, and the vision they included about the occupied Emirati islands, carried four basic goals: the first is a continuous reminder of the land issue on every occasion, and the second is an alert to the situation that the issue has reached, and the extent of the peaceful efforts it is making. The UAE, which is armed with the legitimacy of its position and the soundness of its approach, in order to persuade Iran to reverse its position of rejection of dialogue, and the third is its keenness that the members of the Council be aware of the situation, and urged them to work to carry this issue to the people, with the aim of forming a collective political awareness In the Emirates, that the issue of the islands will not be forgotten, and that the Emirates will remain faithful to the covenant of restoring its rights, while the last goal was like a mandate conveyed by a clear message to the members of the Council that they carry this just cause to the whole world, to be a reliable support in all the state’s regional efforts And global, to restore the rights of the UAE in its occupied islands, and to persuade Iran to return them.

The inclusion of Sheikh Zayed’s speeches on the issue of the occupied islands represented a clear message of insistence that this issue be rooted in the hearts of the people of the country, and it should never be waived, no matter how long it takes, which was evident in most or all of the speeches, words and official meetings of the President of the Federal National Council. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, which reflects the council’s keenness to adopt these principles in its foreign participation, through Arab and international parliamentary conferences, by gaining support and support from various parties for these issues, including the issue of the three Emirati islands occupied by Iran: (Tunb Al-Kubra, Tunb Al-Sughra, and Abu Musa), and an attempt to persuade the Iranian side to resolve it peacefully, or to resort to the International Court of Justice.

The most prominent words of Sheikh Zayed, may God have mercy on him, under the parliament dome, on the issue of the occupied islands, came on February 6, 1993, when he opened the parliamentary session, saying: “The United Arab Emirates considers that Iran’s continued occupation of its three islands:The Greater Tunb, the Lesser Tunb and Abu Musa, and their failure to adhere to what was stated in the memorandum of understanding on Abu Musa Island, constitutes a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state, and destabilizes security and stability in the region. between countries, and we affirm that the development of friendship and cooperation relations between the two countries is linked to the strengthening of trust, and the measures taken by the Islamic Republic of Iran, which are consistent with its commitment to the principles of international law and international conventions, and its respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the United Arab Emirates, and the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries. And that the UAE has repeatedly expressed its desire to solve this problem by peaceful means, and affirms its determination to take and follow up all peaceful measures to restore its sovereignty over its three islands in accordance with the principles and charter of the United Nations and international law.
