Budaev noted the "Russophobic story" coming from Western countries that are trying to ban any cultural event that showcases Russian achievements in culture, art, science and sports.

“Such efforts are doomed to failure: Russian culture cannot be banned, it was, is and will remain in the hearts and minds of millions and millions of people on our planet,” he told RIA Novosti.

Budaev said that this week a concert of Russian classical music was held at the Russian embassy in Uruguay.

“The Russian cultural and humanitarian presence in Uruguay is noticeable and tangible,” the Russian ambassador said.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at the celebrations on the occasion of the 1160th anniversary of the birth of Russian statehood, said that no one will ever be able to ban or cancel the unique Russian civilization.
