H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, who praised the UAE’s contributions to strengthening regional and global security and stability, and its outstanding humanitarian and development efforts whose impact extends to various parts of the world. The two sides also reviewed developments on the regional and global arenas, exchanged views on them, and discussed a number of issues on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly.

During the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed that the UAE and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) share a distinguished partnership that aims to enhance stability in the region and maintain international peace and security, pointing to the keenness to develop bilateral cooperation between the two sides in various fields.

For his part, Jens Stoltenberg stressed the outstanding contributions made by the UAE to achieving peace in the region and enhancing regional and global security and stability, praising its outstanding humanitarian and development efforts whose impact extends to various parts of the world.

His Highness also met separately with a number of foreign ministers of the countries participating in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, where he met Lithuania's Foreign Minister Gabrieleus Landsbergis, Czech Foreign Minister Jan Lebowski, Poland's Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau, Norway's Minister of Foreign Affairs Anneken Hoytfeld, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway. Estonia's Foreign Minister Urmas Rinsallo, and Barbados Foreign Minister Jerome Javier Walcott.

His Highness discussed with the foreign ministers a number of issues on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly, in addition to developments at the regional and international levels, including the crisis in Ukraine, the energy and food crisis, and ways to achieve stability in the global market and enhance global efforts to maintain international peace and security.

In this regard, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan stressed the importance of strengthening global partnerships and international cooperation in facing current challenges in order to create diverse opportunities to stimulate economic growth in societies.

During the meetings, they discussed bilateral cooperation and partnership relations between the UAE and these countries in all fields, including economic, investment, educational, cultural, tourism, agricultural, food security, renewable energy and other fields.

Ways to stimulate international cooperation in the face of climate change and the importance of focusing on achieving progress in this file, which is directly related to the paths of sustainable development and economic prosperity in various countries, were reviewed. During the meetings, the preparations of the UAE to host the Conference of the States Parties COP28 next year were also reviewed.

His Highness also met, on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador, Joanna Alexandra, where they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance and develop them at all levels.

After the meeting, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of El Salvador signed a memorandum of understanding on political consultations between the two countries.

His Highness and Joanna Alexandra also signed a memorandum of understanding regarding the establishment of a joint committee between the UAE and El Salvador.

His Highness also met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Carlos Alberto Franca, during which the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the UAE and Brazil and prospects for strengthening joint cooperation in all fields, including investment, economic and trade.

A number of issues on the agenda of the United Nations General Assembly were also reviewed, in addition to ways to enhance global efforts to confront climate change.
