The Russian Foreign Ministry has summoned ambassadors to Moscow from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia, to communicate to them the decision to expel diplomats from their respective representations in Russia "based on the principle of reciprocity".

This was announced by the Russian agency Tass.

This is a retaliation for the decision of the Baltic countries to expel several Russian diplomats on March 18: three each from Estonia and Latvia, four from Lithuania, which declared them 'persona non grata'.

On March 6, there was already a warning from Moscow to the Baltic countries again through the Foreign Ministry: "The anti-Russian psychosis is your fault", therefore Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, which had excluded Russia from Council of States of the Baltic Sea, they will do well to take all necessary measures to "protect our diplomats".

In an official note, the spokesperson of the ministry, Maria Zakharova, had warned these three countries on the political fact that the suspension of Russia from the Council of States overlooking the Baltic Sea was considered "a hostile action that contradicts the spirit of Baltic cooperation. and the legal bases of the Council ".
