After 4 weeks

, the Covid-19 contagion curve is reversed

, which marks

+ 11.3% in 7 days

.

On the other hand, the

decline in ordinary hospitalizations

(-9.6%),

intensive care

(-8%)

and deaths

(-12.8%) continues.

Currently positive cases are also decreasing (-8.8%) and people in home isolation (-8.8%).

This is what emerges from

the independent monitoring of the Gimbe Foundation

for the

week 14-20 September

"After 4 consecutive weeks of decline there is a modest increase in new cases - declares

Nino Cartabellotta

, president of the Gimbe Foundation - which rose from almost 108 thousand to 120 thousand, with a 7-day moving average of over 17 thousand cases per day ". Data that, according to Cartabellotta, are" to be monitored carefully in the coming weeks, given the concomitance of various factors that can determine an increase in new infections of unpredictable extent: reopening of schools, greater attendance of closed places with the arrival of the first cold weather, forfeiture of the obligation to wear a mask on public transport from 30 September.

This is why at the gates of autumn - he warns - it is essential for the categories at risk to carry out the second booster of the vaccine as soon as possible, given the decline in effectiveness against serious illness after 120 days ", he recommends.

The

"geography" of the infections

indicates in detail that

in 6 Regions there is a percentage drop in new cases

(from -1.5% in Sicily to -13.1% in Calabria), while

in 15 Regions there are very heterogeneous increases

( from + 0.1% in Abruzzo to + 58% in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano).

Compared to the previous week, in 36 provinces there was a decrease in new cases (from -0.3% in Genoa to -35.9% in Vibo Valentia), while 70 Provinces recorded an increase (from + 0.2% in Verona to + 88.9% of Biella);

the Province of La Spezia is stable.

The incidence remains below 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in all provinces: from 67 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Barletta-Andria-Trani to 384 in Vicenza.

"On the hospital front

- says Marco Mosti, operational director of the Gimbe Foundation -

the decline in hospitalizations continues both in the medical area

(-9.6%)

and in intensive care

(-8%)".

In eight weeks, hospitalizations decreased from 434 to 150 in the critical area and from 11,124 to 3,495 in the medical area respectively.

As of September 20, the national employment rate by Covid patients was 5.5% in the medical area (from 3.2% in Tuscany to 19.4% in Valle D'Aosta) and 1.6% in the area critical (from 0% of Molise and Valle d'Aosta to 4% of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano).

"A slight decrease in daily admissions to intensive care - specifies Mosti - with a 7-day moving average of 14 admissions / day compared to 16 in the previous week".

The decline in deaths

also

continues

: 334 in the last 7 days (of which 29 referring to previous periods),

with an average of 48 per day compared to 55 in the previous week

Speaking of vaccination and the fourth dose

, in the last week

the number of new immigrants has also

dropped

significantly

.

In Italy

there are 6.81 million people

over the age of 5

who have not received even a dose of the anti Covid vaccine

of which almost 5.71 million currently vaccinated, equal to 9.9% of the audience (from 7.2% in Lazio to 13.6% in Valle D'Aosta) and 1.11 million temporarily protected as they recovered from less than 180 days, equal to 1.9% of the audience (from 1.3% in Valle D'Aosta to 2.9% in Marche).

"With the resumption of viral circulation, the administration of the

fourth dose

is urgent for over 14 million people - underlines the president, Nino Cartabellotta." The number of people candidates to receive the second booster (fourth dose), says Gimbe, is over 19 , 1 million: of these, over 14 million can receive it immediately, almost 1.9 million are not immediately eligible as they have been healed for less than 120 days and almost 3.2 million have already received it.

As of September 21, 3,171,672 fourth doses have been administered
