During a conversation with the head of EU diplomacy, Josep Borrell, Wang Yi called a ceasefire and a peaceful settlement the main priorities.

“China will not be an indifferent observer and, moreover, will not add fuel to the fire,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

According to him, the Chinese side "will continue to play its role."

He also said that he supports the EU to "continue active mediation" and make every effort to achieve peace.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Samarkand, said that Russia highly appreciates China's balanced position regarding the Ukrainian crisis.

On September 21, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all parties to the conflict in Ukraine to ceasefire and peacefully resolve the conflict through dialogue.
