Since the start of the protests in Iran, at least 31 people have lost their lives according to the Oslo-based NGO Iran Human Rights.

Earlier, Iranian authorities had reported 17 dead.

These demonstrations erupted across the country to protest the death of a woman in the custody of the vice squad.

To respond to these uprisings, the government mobilized significant military forces, and reduced access to the Internet, and in particular to social networks still accessible to this day.
