Armenia's survival is under threat in the conflict with Azerbaijan

Armenia's ambassador to France lamented Thursday that the international community's "all attention" is focused on Ukraine, and denounced, after a week of fierce fighting, "Azerbaijan's aggression" that threatens her country's existence.

Hasmik Tolmmadjian stressed during a press conference in Paris that "Armenia is living a pivotal moment and its survival is under threat."

She stressed that "in the absence of a firm enough international reaction, tomorrow we will witness the end of Armenia," calling for "a clear condemnation of the Azerbaijani aggression" and the imposition of sanctions.

Bloody clashes (about 300 dead) took place on September 13 on the border between the two countries, which blame each other for the heaviest fighting since the war in 2020. Calm has returned in recent days, but the situation remains tense between the two former Soviet republics.

"All the attention of the international community is focused on Ukraine, we are a collateral victim of the current great geopolitical turmoil," Tolmadjian added, denouncing Armenia's "extreme isolation" in the current atmosphere.
