24 people drowned in a Lebanese boat off the Syrian coast

A source in Tartarus, western Syria, said that 24 people lost their lives and 15 others were injured, after a boat sank.

The source confirmed to the German News Agency (dpa) today, Thursday, that "Syrian cadres have recovered 24 victims and 15 injured as a result of the sinking of a Lebanese boat carrying people of different nationalities, and that the specialized teams are looking for other bodies that may be in the sea."

For his part, a medical source from Baniyas Hospital told dpa, "The medical staff at Al-Basel Hospital are providing treatment to the survivors of the sinking boat during the process of recovering them from the sea and after their arrival at the hospital."
