The Incest Commission, the "Ciivise", publishes this Wednesday a synthesis of the testimonies collected by telephone or during public meetings for more than a year.

Among these testimonies, that of Ingrid, 48 years old.

Raped by her father between the ages of 10 and 17, she confides in the microphone of Europe 1 on her reconstruction.

La Ciivise publishes this Wednesday a synthesis of the testimonies collected by telephone, in writing or during public meetings.

This assessment focuses on the long-term consequences of this violence: professional and affective life, physical and mental health... The after-effects are numerous and above all painful over time, for very long years.

Raped by her father between the ages of 10 and 17, Ingrid agreed to confide in her reconstruction at the microphone of Europe 1.

"A Trauma"

Among the most common disorders among victims of incest: addictions.

More than a third of the nearly 15,000 victims questioned have developed drug addiction problems.

And it's not just about drugs or alcohol… Addictive behavior can take different forms.

And Ingrid is no exception, she even suffered from it for a long time.

"It's mostly the desire to die, suicide attempts," she says.

"You can find yourself in addictions that are also sexual."

"It's a trauma. Any situation that the victim will experience one day in his life, such as a smell that will remind him of his suffering... Will disturb him", she continues.

"At that point, she's going to want to turn that memory off, numbing it emotionally. Hence the drugs, the games,

A complicated love life

Ingrid lives much better today, fortunately, thanks to a long psychoanalysis.

But his romantic relationships have also suffered from the violence suffered during his childhood.

Another sequel.

"I had relationships with men who were really weird, really special," she says.

“Like many victims of incest, our love life, I believe that is what is the most catastrophic”, concludes Ingrid.

"It's something that doesn't leave you and it's as if you had one leg missing, but you can't see it. It's a handicap, somewhere, that we carry."

In addition to emotional life, work is also impacted, for 40% of people questioned by the Ciivise.

After a year of collecting thousands of testimonies across France and with the approach of the finance bill, the Incest Commission recommends that the State finance specialized psycho-trauma care for victims of incest, while throughout their life.
