On September 21, the Propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a press conference on the work on Taiwan and the development of cross-strait relations since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

A reporter asked: We see that the current public opinion generally believes that the DPP authorities are strengthening "independence by force", while the United States is strengthening its support for Taiwan to improve its so-called self-defense capabilities. The side may "promote reunification by force". What is your opinion on this kind of public opinion?

At the same time, does the mainland have a timetable for resolving the Taiwan issue and realizing the complete reunification of the motherland?

Ma Xiaoguang, director of the Propaganda Bureau of the Central Taiwan Affairs Office and spokesman, responded, "I would like to reiterate that we adhere to the basic policy of "peaceful reunification and one country, two systems", and are willing to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity and best efforts.

Our high confidence comes from the development and progress of our country, the strong public support of the more than 1.4 billion Chinese people, and the long history and culture of China. Therefore, we are willing to continue to strive for the prospect of peaceful reunification with the greatest sincerity and best efforts.

At the same time, we must also make it clear that our determination and will to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity are firm and will never allow anyone or any force to invade and divide the sacred territory of the motherland.

If the "Taiwan independence" separatist forces or external forces provoke, force or even break the red line, we will have to take decisive measures.

The "Taiwan independence" separatist forces' attempts to "reject reunification by force" and "rely on foreign countries to seek independence" will only accelerate their own demise.
