Masters of their fate: the authorities of the republics of Donbass and the liberated territories announced a vote on joining the Russian Federation

In the republics of Donbass and in the liberated territories of Ukraine, from September 23 to 27, a vote will be held on the issue of joining these regions into the Russian Federation.

The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions made relevant statements on Tuesday, September 20.

The head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, appealed to President Vladimir Putin with a request to accept the DPR into Russia in case of a positive decision on the results of the vote.

“The long-suffering people of Donbass deserve to be part of a great country that they have always considered their homeland.

This event will be the restoration of historical justice, the onset of which millions of Russian people crave,” Pushilin wrote on Telegram.

Earlier, he submitted to the parliament of the republic a draft law on voting on the issue of joining Russia.

The document was unanimously supported.

Subsequently, Pushilin specified the parameters of the upcoming procedure.

According to him, for security reasons, the voting will be held in a mixed format.

“The main time that we have set for the referendum is the voting, which will be held outside the polling stations so as not to create a mass gathering of people, and one day already directly for those who would like to vote at the polling station,” the Donetsk News Agency quotes the politician .

He also clarified that if it becomes part of the Russian Federation, the republic will retain its name, and the DPR Constitution will be adapted to Russian legislation.

Pushilin noted that the republic has its own flag, anthem and coat of arms.

“And I’ll tell you, people have been dying for this flag for eight years, they went on the attack with it and continue to go on the attack.

Therefore, of course, it would be wrong to modify something, including in the name, ”TASS quotes him as saying.

Similar decisions on the issue of voting were made in the LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

This was preceded by appeals from the public councils of these regions with the initiative to immediately hold a vote on joining the Russian Federation.

In particular, on September 20, the head of the Luhansk People's Republic, Leonid Pasechnik, signed the relevant law.

The document states that it comes into force at the time of signing.

Later, Pasechnik made an appeal in which he stated that the Russian Federation was providing enormous assistance to the LPR, and noted that the republic "has already become part of Russia."

“President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin assured that Russia will help free the entire territory of Donbass from the Ukronazis.

There is no doubt that this goal of the special operation will be achieved.

There is no way back.

Only together and only with Russia will we stand and win,” said Pasechnik.

The decree on holding a vote on the issue of joining the Russian Federation was also signed by the head of the military-civilian administration of the Kherson region Vladimir Saldo.

He turned to Russia for help in carrying out the procedure, expressing confidence that the inclusion of the region into the Russian Federation would secure the life of the region.

“This is a necessary solution in the context of constant acts of terror by the armed forces of Ukraine and NATO member countries that supply weapons to kill civilians on our land,” Saldo said.

A similar vote will be held in the Zaporozhye region.

According to the head of the Regional State Administration Yevgeny Balitsky, the participants in the procedure will be asked three questions: “Are you in favor of secession of the Zaporozhye region from Ukraine, the formation of an independent state by the Zaporozhye region and its entry into the Russian Federation as a constituent entity of the Russian Federation?”

He expressed confidence that the moment for making a decision on the territorial affiliation of the Zaporozhye region has come.

Balitsky noted that the security of polling stations is ensured, and the borders of the region are protected by the Russian military.

In turn, the chairman of the movement “We are together with Russia”, Vladimir Rogov, in an interview with RT, expressed confidence that the inclusion of the Zaporozhye region in Russia would help to quickly end the armed conflict.

“It will show people a clear certainty that Russia is here forever.

Then they will quickly make the right decision, lay down their arms and go over to the side of their people, their countrymen,” he said.

Meanwhile, the State Duma announced that they would support the residents of Donbass if they voted in favor of joining the Russian Federation during the voting.

This position was voiced by the speaker of the lower house of parliament Vyacheslav Volodin.

“If, during a direct expression of will, they say that they want to be part of Russia, colleagues, we will support them.

They must understand this today: that we expect them to freely express their will, ”he said during the plenary session.

The speaker of the State Duma added that due to the fault of Kyiv and Washington, a “tragedy that could have been prevented” is happening in Ukraine.

According to Volodin, it was the Kyiv regime, Washington and Brussels that did everything to create a threat to both the Donbass and Russia.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov also spoke about the forthcoming declaration of will.

“From the very beginning of the special military operation and in the period preceding it, we said that the peoples should decide their fate.

And the whole current situation confirms that they want to be masters of their own destiny,” Lavrov said in a conversation with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The Central Election Commission of Russia, in turn, declared its readiness to assist the election commissions of the DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions.
