Well-informed Palestinian sources confirmed that the factional coordination committee in Nablus reached an agreement late last night to cordon off the events that took place in the city following the arrest of the Palestinian Authority's security services, Musab Shtayyeh and Brigadier General Tabila, wanted by the Israeli occupation.

The agreement includes working to satisfactorily end the file of Musab Shtayyeh, forming a committee of institutions, actors and personalities to visit him and follow up on the conditions of his detention, setting a time limit for his release and Tabila, and considering their condition as a national case, without working to prosecute them on security grounds except in the case of breaking the law.

The agreement also includes the release of those arrested in the events, except for aggressors on private property and theft, and the non-prosecution of anyone following this event.

Recently, Nablus witnessed gun battles between Palestinian youths and the security forces of the Palestinian Authority, which reached a state of increasing chaos that is feared to get out of control. The clashes erupted on Monday evening after the Palestinian Authority security forces arrested two Hamas members.

The arrest of Mosab Shtayyeh and Imad Tabila angered many in the city, especially those who accuse the Palestinian Authority of being a puppet of Israel that moves it as it pleases.

The clashes resulted in the death of one person, and youths set fire to the streets, and the sounds of intense gunfire were heard throughout the city, causing windows of a number of nearby buildings to be smashed.
