While pursuing a calf that had escaped from the Tarbes slaughterhouse, the police did not expect to make such a discovery.

While trying to catch the fleeing animal to prevent it from causing a traffic accident, law enforcement officers came across a mummified corpse in the night from Monday to Tuesday, not far from the hospital.

They had landed in the area after several hours of searching and saw the calf "entered a grove where it fell into a kind of small ravine full of brambles", said its owner.

When they found the body, it was in such a state that it is impossible to determine at this stage whether it is that of a man or a woman.

He was lying on the bank of the Gespe river, between the parking lot of the hospital establishment and his laundry.

A judicial inquiry has been opened and the autopsy of the body must be performed at the end of the week at the Toulouse forensic institute.
