Izvestia: a number of banks in Kazakhstan and Vietnam have suspended acceptance of MIR cards

According to the newspaper, in particular, MIR cards are no longer accepted in the Vietnamese BIDV.

According to a bank employee, BIDV continues to service VISA, Mastercard, Western Union, JCB, UnionPay cards, but the MIR payment system is not on this list.

Also, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan (Halyk Bank) stopped accepting MIR cards.

It is noted that the cards are not serviced either through terminals or through ATMs.

Earlier, the Financial Times, citing sources, wrote that the US and the EU plan to increase pressure on Turkish banks to join the MIR payment system.

Turkish bank İş Bankası has already suspended the use of the Russian payment system due to the threat of sanctions.

The Russian Embassy in Turkey recommended that Russian tourists carry cash on their travels for everyday expenses.
