The need for electricity in Norrbotten and Norrland will increase with the large industrial investments, which may mean electricity shortages in the future when the competition for electricity within Sweden and the rest of Europe will be greater.

The new power line from Sweden to Finland will enable a larger market.

- If the line is built, there will be a larger market to sell the electricity that is in Norrbotten.

With supply and demand, the price of that electricity will naturally go up, says Bengt Ekenstierna, advisor and analyst.

Will export as much electricity as 100 wind turbines produce

With the new power line, it will be possible to export 3 times more electricity than the planned wind farm in Pajala/Käymävaara can produce.

- If the wind turbines were to produce 8 MW, which are large wind turbines, it would mean that 100 wind turbines would spin at the same time to fill up that line.

But it can also import electricity from Finland if there is an electricity shortage in Norrland, says Bengt Ekenstierna, advisor and analyst.
