In line with the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China, historical materials such as the original of the Japan-China Joint Statement signed by then Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka and Premier Zhou Enlai will be released to the public from the 22nd.

On September 29, 1972, then Prime Minister Kakuei Tanaka visited Beijing and signed a Japan-China Joint Statement with Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai to establish diplomatic relations.



As this month marks the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations, 18 historical materials related to Japan-China relations, including the original of the Japan-China Joint Statement, will be made available to the public from the 22nd.



Of these, in relation to the Treaty of Peace and Friendship between Japan and China concluded in 1978, the "signature" signed by then Foreign Minister Sunao Sonoda and China's Foreign Minister This is the first time that the ratification exchange protocol has been made public.



These historical materials will be exhibited at the Diplomatic Archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Minato Ward, Tokyo, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
