President Yoon Seok-yeol, who is visiting London, England to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, ordered the active use of administrative force for public safety in relation to the 14th typhoon 'Nan Madol' on the 18th (local time).



President Yoon made this request in a phone call with Prime Minister Han Deok-soo at 9:15 pm (5:15 am Korean time) that day, Deputy Spokesperson Lee Jae-myung said in a written briefing.



President Yoon said, "From now until the late afternoon of the 19th, when Korea is completely free from the sphere of influence of the typhoon, is the most important golden time in responding to the typhoon.



In particular, he urged local governments to quickly determine dangerous situations such as flooding of roads and actively use administrative power for public safety, such as evacuation orders and traffic restrictions.



President Yoon also received a report that 'Marines have deployed armored vehicles and lifeboats to the Pohang Fire Station' and said, "Let's work together to minimize the damage to life and property caused by typhoon 'Nan Madol' by uniting the public and private forces like this." he added.
