In his opinion, such statements are made specifically for the Western curators of Kyiv, as well as for the nationalist-minded part of Ukrainian society.

“Naturally, these statements and comments by Ukrainian officials should be taken as another attempt to present the situation in a better light,” the political scientist said.

Earlier, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, said that Crimea is an integral part of Russia, and claims to Russian territory will receive a proper response.

Thus, he reacted to the statement of the adviser to the head of the office of Volodymyr Zelensky, Mikhail Podolyak, who called on "residents of the occupied territories", including the Crimean peninsula, to prepare for the "upcoming de-occupation" of the regions.

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014, in which the majority of the inhabitants of the peninsula spoke in favor of reunification with Russia.
